In the world there are several rules of survival. People are taught about these rules since they were kids to prevent any misfortune. But what about the rules that no one teaches you? What about the rules relating to something a lot of people don’t even acknowledge?
Lots of people from different regions have figure out the rules of their region. I have figured out some of these general rules and I call them rules of delay because once you come in contact with these things, you can only delay the inevitable. Some of these rules are
1. Do not look back while walking on an empty road at night, however tempted you are.
2. Do not attach a mirror on the wall opposite of your bed. You don’t want faces peeking at you from the mirror.
3.Do not ever sleep at a place in your room where your are blocking someone’s way.
4. Always sleep with your feet towards your door and your head away from it.
5. If you are home alone trying to sleep and you hear a sound from inside the house, never leave your bed to investigate. Instead cover yourself with blankets.
6. Never try to talk to something you cant see in the darkness, not even as a joke. You will not like it if something replies back.
7.Never react to any sound when alone, it’s only when you acknowledge these sounds then these things come for you.
8. Do not look at the mirror directly at night and if you do, never break eye contact instantly. Look away slowly.
9.Never answer the door if you hear three consistent knocks. Either wait for the fourth or never open the door.
10.Never try to look from in between the cracks of the curtains.
11.Do not panic if you feel somebody’s presence behind you. Try to act normal.
These rules varies from place to place. Nobody has taught you these rules, but you still know about them subconsciously. You follow these rules without realising so and only when someone tells you about these rules than you realise that you already follow them. We don’t know what will happen if we don’t follow these rules, but do we really want to find that out?
Driving all around the country is a pain for some while for others it is a pleasure and for those whose livelihoods include driving around the country it can be either of the two. While on long stretch of roads miles away from any sort of civilization, our mind often starts playing trick on us or maybe we really experience something strange or supernatural and as theres nobody with us to attest about this we try to rationalize these things as our mind playing tricks on us or highway hypnosis of some sort or it can be both. While we can’t say for sure which of these things plays a more important part here are some of those creepy experiences from long haul truckers.

I’m not a long haul trucker, but was on a kind of long road trip one night. Was about 1-2am. Saw a huge flash out towards the right rear passenger side. Almost like stadium lights turned on then off real quick. So bright and white, it was crazy. Thing is, I was on a major interstate, in the middle of a forest, no cars around me. My first thought was an angel or something. To this day I’m still stumped.

A friend of my cousin was a long haul trucker. He was making a delivery across the country and was in a hardly used dirt stretch of a rural route. Since the road wasn’t exactly peachy he had to drive slowly.
He sees another truck slowly approaching from the opposite direction, and he sees the truck is the same as his. Since this isn’t fairly uncommon, he didn’t think much of it but as the other one grew closer he decided to honk in recognition of having the same kind of truck. The other one replies and all is good. That is, until they narrowly and very slowly had to pass one another. He turned to Iook at the driver and he saw himself. Not a reflection, not a similar person but his exact same copy, same clothes, same hat, same red beard, staring at him. They passed each other and that was that.
He told me he’d seen very weird things, but that was the moment he decided to stop being a trucker.

Myself and 2 friends had to drive from Laredo, TX to Baton Rouge, LA one night in my Ford van. It was about 2am. There is a particularly long and dark section of highway just outside Laredo…no buildings, towns or lights for about 50 miles.
I was in the right lane coming up on a truck and pulled out into the left passing lane. As was slowly overtaking this long truck, my peripheral vision caught a sudden movement of this big truck towards the right shoulder. saw the truck was swerving to avoid hitting a person dressed in all white, white face…who’s arms were folded across the chest and eyes were closed as they walked across the highway. swerved to the left and barely missed this ghostly looking person with my passenger mirror…can still remember seeing that the eyes were closed…that’s how close we came to hitting this person..

I’m a truck driver in the UK. Was driving through rural Scotland one night going down a country lane, all off a sudden start to see flashing lights come through the trees. Lights of all colours flashing through the trees and causing some really freaky looking shadows on the road.
I’m not a believer of aliens or anything but my first thought was ufos. Safe to say I put my foot down and got out of there.
Found out the next day it was rave happening in a field. But at the time it didn’t half scare me.

Not exactly at a road, but in the sky. I’m a pilot and usually fly around Florida. This specific night was out at around 11:30pm with a friend, flying down the eastern shoreline, when I suddenly see a medium-sized white light slowly start coming towards us, stop, and then go vertically into the ocean and disappear. Both my friend and saw it and we were completely speechless. Asked the air traffic control if there were any kind of aircraft around us and he told us we were the only aircraft in a 40 mile radius.

My grandfather was in the Air Force and one night he was driving (back to his base maybe??? can’t quite remember) and he saw a woman standing on the side of the road in a long white dress at about two AM. He circled back to ask if she needed help and she was nowhere to be seen.
He searched for her for about an before giving up, and deciding to leave it alone. When he decided to go on his way he had a strong feeling that he needed to switch lanes (he was on the road alone in the middle of the night so he had no idea why) and just ahead on the road there was a broken down truck with no hazards on that he would have hit, and probably been killed by, if he stayed in the lane he had been in.
To this day he’s convinced the woman was trying to warn him, like an omen or something.

Creepiest
Driving 40 1-30 through Texas and Arkansas, I would see what looked like animals/faces popping out of the bushes but longer than a glance proved nothing there. They had just paved the highway, and there was hardly any traffic. I was dead tired, it was super dark. bypnosis suppose.
Paranormal
When I went to local driving, my route ran near an Air Reserve Base in Indiana, so you’d see planes and helicopters pretty often. One night, about 2 AM, I was headed to pick up another load when I saw a bright green light in the corner of my windshield. It was too low to be an aircraft. It moved pretty slowly, then darted and lost sight of it behind some trees drove by. Typical saw a UFO” shit, but I still think it was just a helicopter or a jet that saw at the prefect angle that turned after a takeoff. The jet pilots have broken the sound barrier over town a couple times in the past (sonic boom) so a jet flying abnormally isn’t necessarily out of the realm of possibility.
Just batshit carzy
Driving South on I-75 in the winter in Ohio, I witnessed a compact car like a Cobalt or similar get on the on-ramp to merge in to I-75 North and lost control. They went sideways, fell at least 6 feet off the ramp and onto the shoulder of the interstate landing on al 4 wheels, spun 360 degrees, and then proceeded to merge into traffic like it was fucking nothing. Blew. My. Fucking. Mind. The CB radio was going fucking nuts for about 5 minutes. “HOLY SHIT WHO ELSE JUST FUCKING SAW THAT?”, etc.

My dad has several stories from hauling logs in Idaho and driving trucks through Utah and Nevada. My favorite is from actually just in his pickup going through Utah. He said there was a light keeping pace with him out in the desert on a moonless night. It kept pace for a minute before it disappeared and his truck turned off. He stopped and turned it on and pulled off at the next diner. The folks in the diner called it a common occurrence.
The creepiest is when he was hauling logs in ldaho and was coming down from near Coeur d’alene area during a snowy winter night. He was putting on chains before heading down steep grade and said all of the hair stood up on his body. It felt like there was something watching him. Halfway down the switchbacks he saw a large figure standing on a 20 foot tall embankment. As he got closer it jumped down and the shoulders were as tall as the cab. In a single bound it leaped down and then leaped over to the other side of the embankment. At the time he thought it was a Sasquatch, now he says it was probably a “demon” trying to make him crash. He didn’t stop to remove the chains until he was well away from the mountain.

Woah that actually reminds me of a story. live in Spokane which is about 45 min away from Coeur d’alene. was driving back from my aunts in the dark one night and just hit a massive wall of fog. turn the corner and a whole herd of deer come running down the road toward me. I slow down a lot so dont hit them. Then after another few seconds see a woman standing im the street facing away from me with dirty clothes.
The area was in is known to have meth heads and heroin addicts so cracked the window and called out to her and asked if she needed me to call anyone. As soon as spoke her head whipped around and it looked like she was a burn victim; huge lidless eyes, no eyebrows, voldemort nose, and a mouth that looked like it was melted or sewn up or something. Then she ran off into the woods and I drove a lot faster than should have home.
Poveglia island is situated in venetian lagoon, Northern Italy. The island was used as as a quarantine facility for those suffering from the plague during 1776 upto almost about a 100 years later after which it was also used as a mental hospital. The hospital was closed down in 1968 and the island has been vacant since then. The Italian state has tried to auction the island several times since 2014 but the island still remains vacant. It is estimated that a total of 160,000 people died on the island. The core of the island is literally made of human remains because of the bodies that were burnt to prevent the spread of plague. In 1922,when the mental hospital was built with an impressive bell tower, the patients immediately began to see ghosts of the plague victims. They would hear tortured wails and screams at night but their complaints were ignored as they were already considered insane.
One doctor decided to find a cure for insanity and started experimenting on patients secretly. Patients were taken to the bell tower and tortured by the doctor and his accomplices. After many years of performing this heinous act, the doctor started witnessing the spirits of the tortured and plague victims himself. He went mad and jumped off the bell tower. The witness on the scene reported that he did not die immediately but as soon as he fell a black mist formed around him and choked him. It is rumored that his spirit still haunts the bell tower and on many occasions people heard the sound of a bell ringing even from across the bay. However the bell was already removed a long time ago. A family decided to buy the island and build a holiday home there but they ran away on the first night they stayed on the island. The details of their encounters are not exactly known but it is rumored that their daughter’s face was ripped and required 14 stitches.
Doctors or staff wearing protective equipment during plague.
Psychics who visited the island were extremely frightened because of all the negative energy they witnessed there. It is illegal for anyone to visit the island, however a lot of thrill seekers still dodge the authorities and go there but everyone who has visited the island, refuse to go there again.
Have you ever had that feeling where you feel like you are awake but you can’t move your body and it feels like there’s a heavy object on your chest ? If not then congratulations you are one of those lucky ones who have not experienced this creepy phenomenon “yet”. Many names have been used to describe this phenomenon, SLEEPING PARALYSIS or OLD HAG SYNDROME are perhaps the most common ones.
Apparently many people who experience this do it very frequently. While asleep people wake up but are not able to move their body and in that moment one can see shadows from the corner of their eyes , sometimes too close for comfort. There are many chilling stories related to sleeping paralysis. There is a scientific explanation for this phenomenon but mostly people who experience these disagree with these explanations.
During these sleep paralysis episodes people often witness some kind of sleep paralysis demons. They have different characteristics for every different person and can look really horrifying according to what some of the people might have described. This coupled with the fact that one cant even move or speak makes it alot more horrifying. Here are some of the stories of redditors who have witnessed these sleep paralysis demons.
1. u/dreams-outrageous
You know, when I was younger (and still a little bit now) I believed that having sleep paralysis was halfway crossing over to another world or dimension. And the demons that would visit me knew I was a little lost, and that thier appearance might be jarring to me, as I was little.
And maybe the habit of just being non threatening and gentle never went away as I got older. I do recall one time I managed to let out this little scared whine, and I swore, the demon shushed me and gently patted my head.
Regardless of whether or not sleep paralysis demons are real, they certainly feel real. So weird. Also good to know that I’m not the only one who has harmless sleep demons.
2. u/binmehdi
I’ve a strange demon. He is old like 50 years, is bald somewhat and has a very satanic face with a beard. He grabs me from my back and sequezes me too much that I scream and scream until my mom or brother comes to my room to wake me up. This doesn’t happen when I am sleeping straight or on the left side but happens when I am sleeping on right. That means even without any weigh on my body I feel him. It has been 4 months since I last saw him. I am poor at drawing but I’ve seen him so much that I can describe his facial features.
3. u/Bloop_bleep_bloopp My first time it was a figure in a motorcycle helmet standing in the doorway of my room. My first time living away from home on my own. It feels like your mouth is sewn shut and your tongue isn’t there anyway even if you wanted to scream, and your body is stapled you the bed, or in some thick substance that doesn’t let you move. I get it less and less often as I get older (think messing around with drugs caused it) and now when I get it I can alter my breathing enough my boyfriend wakes up and can then wake me up. It’s bloody horrible though.
4. u/TheTwiggsMGW
Through college and few years after I had sleep paralysis fairly often. It was never the same hallucination. The first experience was Samara from The Ring hanging over me and dripping water onto me (woke up drenched in sweat). I’ve also just seen the shadows of people on the wall while they spoke nonsense from the foot of my bed, seemingly with ill intent but I couldn’t understand them.
5. u/dreams-outrageous
Most of the time it was too dark for me to see, so it would just be the feeling of something pressing down on me, forcing me into the mattress, and usually accompanied by exaggerated house sounds or the sounds of nature outside of my window was open.
Usually whenever I have them, they appear in the corner of my room. They’re tall, and impossibly thin, with large and long hands, all pitch shadows with red circles where eyes should be. They sorta resemble people?
They usually just come up and sit on the edge of my bed, and pat my knee gently as if to comfort me. They aren’t mean or anything. They go between looking at me, and just looking at things around my room, reading posters, etc.
Eventually they sorta just… dissolve into thin air, and then they’re gone. Its a weird experience, but I’m glad its not deeply horrifying.
6. u/scythevettore
I used to have them when I was younger. I would always wake up and three blob-ish black masses would be at the foot of my bed. No faces but blacken (moreso than their bodies) and sunken in where their face should have been, no sharp lines or distinct figures. Just three separate blobs floor to about 6ft long. Couldn’t move, felt like I couldn’t breathe, and I would just have to lay there until they dissipated. They weren’t violent but felt malevolent. Felt like hours until they left but I had no sense of how much time would pass.
I would like to note that my mother made me collect dolls growing up and would put them in my room. I whole heartedly believe those keep the dead inside but that’s my opinion
7. u/mindfeces
There’s frequently an auditory component to my sleep paralysis.
I intuitively know “they” are on the other side of my bedroom door, soon to enter.
The auditory part consists of the times when I can “hear” (this is a bit more of a dreamlike sensation) savage knocking and rattling. That part is pure fucking torture.
8. u/Wild Sea_9827
Before I was diagnosed with narcolepsy and found out about sleep paralysis, I thought I had ghost encounters, with touching and telekinetic stuff and everything. This new information made sense of my life again.
9. Unknown
I’ve had sleep paralysis like twice. I never had any visual hallucinations though. Just auditory hallucinations. Both times it was the deafening sound of television or radio static. One of the times freaked me out because I had my radio on so I thought that something was messing with it. Tried to get up to see what was going on with it and realized I couldn’t move. Luckily I was familiar with sleep paralysis and was able to wake myself up.
10. kirkrjordan-Bd
Before I knew what sleep paralysis was thought I was straight up haunted…now I know otherwise.
The hallucinations and feeling like you’re buried under a ton of bricks is indeed scary.
What is worse though is that you feel a malevolent presence in the room and it is somehow exerting the paralyzing force onto you… that’s even more scary.
Those 3 things are all scary on their own and worse together but they are all rational fear responses to what is happening. Sleep paralysis fear feels different…it feels like on top of all of the above the chemical in your brain that makes you feel afraid is being injected into you. Pure. Fear. In your brain…completely irrational fear..on top of all the other stuff.
That’s the best I’ve way I’ve been able to describe the horror.
50 Berkley square (London) 50 Berkley square located in Berkley square, Mayfair, Central London is reportedly one of the most haunted townhouses in London. People believed that the attic of the house was the most creepy place with a lot of occurences but a lot of people credited those occurences to the wierd owner who used to sleep during day and wake up at night. It is still believed that women kind of evil lurks within the walls of the house. There is a story of a man who moved into the house along with his teenage daughters. The elder daughter immediately started complaining of a strange musty smell that according to her was of animals in cages at the zoo.
Once the elder daughter’s fiance was due to visit so the housemaid was told to clean the upstairs room for him. As soon as she went up there, the family members heard a terrified scream. When they went to check, she was collapsed on the floor muttering “don’t let it touch me. Even after the incident the girl’s fiance decided to stay in the same room. He went upstairs and locked the room, 30 minutes later everyone heard him scream, followed by a gunshot. He was found dead, his face twisted in horror. There was another man who was skeptical. He told the other occupants before going to bed that at night if he were to ring the bell once, they should ignore it but if the rings the bell twice they should come to his aid. At midnight they heard the bell once and ignored it, soon after the bell started to ring furiously, they ran to his room to find him in absolute terror. He died shortly afterwards.
There are several legends relating to the house. It is believed that the attic of the house is haunted by the spirit of a young woman who committed suicide there. She is capable of frightening people to death. Another story is that the attic is haunted by a spirit of a little girl who was murdered there by a servant. In 1872, lord lyttleton stayed in the attic with his shotgun. At night he reportedly fired at the apparition. In the morning he could only find the cartridges. In 1887 it was alleged that two sailors from HMS Penelope stayed there. One of them was found dead and the other was driven insane. Recently there has been no reports of any paranormal activity and a family lives there.
You probably might have heard about annabelle the doll, well this story is of equally creepy but slightly lesser known doll Robert. Apparently this doll served as an inspiration for movies about chucky.
History
The doll originally belonged to Robert eugene, who belonged to a prominent family in the key West. The doll was bought by his grandfather from Germany in 1904 and it remained in his family home even after Robert eugene died in 1974.
Early signs As a child Robert became infatuated with the doll and gave the doll his own name. He changed his own name to Gene and when his mother asked him why he has changed his own name, he replied” because Robert said so”.(the doll). One night Gene woke up to find Robert sitting on his bed staring at him. He started screaming, his mother came running and with much difficulty opened his room’s locked door to find Gene curled up in fear, his room in shambles and Robert the doll sitting on the foot of his bed.
The hauntings
Gene became blaming Robert for all the mishaps around the house. Gene’s parents would hear him talking to the doll and apparently hearing the doll giggling in response. Sightings of Robert running up and down the stairs and looking down from windows became a regular affair. Robert was locked up in the attic, soon people began hearing footsteps like something or someone pacing back and forth and giggling from the attic. Sometimes Gene would find the doll back in his room sitting by the window. In fact everytime the doll was locked in the attic, it came back into his room somehow. The family moved to France leaving Robert the doll behind in the attic.
The Eventful Reunion
Years later, Gene returned to live in his childhood home with his wife. He found Robert again and started playing with it. Gene would take Robert everywhere and would also talk to the doll for hours. His childhood obsession with the doll started again leaving his wife worried for his mental health. In 1974,Gene was found dead in his attic with Robert on top of him, it’s small hands around his neck.
Aftermath
After that Gene’s wife leased the house and moved back to France. The new owners found the doll and gave it to their child. One day they woke up to find Robert in their room sitting atop a kitchen knife. Their kid was also creeped out of the doll.
They donated the doll to Fort East Marcello Museum where it remains to this day. The doll is believed to be evil, possed by a demon. Some other people belive it to be cursed by Otto family’s caretaker using black magic. However, still a lot of fans pop up at the Museum everyday to get a look at the doll.
Skinwalkers are humanoid creatures. They are known for shapeshifting i.e. they can transform into animals or humans to decieve a person. They are also known to mimic sounds of its last victims to lure people out. In “navajo” culture, skinwalkers refers to a type of witch who has the ability to turn into, possess or disguise themselves as an animal or humans. In the navajo langauge, they call it “yee naaldlooshii” which translates to” By means of it, it goes on all fours”. The legend of skinwalkers is not much understood outside of the Navajo culture because they are reluctant to talk about skinwalkers to non-navajo people. Even taking the name amongst themselves is considered a bad omen. Non native stories about skinwalkers are only partial encounters while trekking in forests or driving through the country. Sometimes though if a person comes across the skinwalkers once, they might follow these people forever. Stories related to skinwalkers mostly come from from North America and its not really uncommon if one spots a skinwalkers as there have been a lot of alleged sightings.
Image- Reddit
If one comes across a skinwalker they have to get themselves blessed. Apparently there’s a way to distinguish between a skinwalker diguised or transformed into some other person or animal and that real person or animal. You can sometimes tell by only looking at them as although these skinwalkers can transform but they can’t perfectly transform, like a transformed animal might have a tail missing or it might have human eyes. Sometimes you can’t even point out the difference but you would feel that there is something wrong with that person or animal, like their movements might look really robotic.
It would be nighttime and you are at your home watching tv, exhausted from the days work. Although you are watching tv, your mind is still stuck on the incident that occurred while driving home from work. You are sure that you saw two children standing at the entrance of the bridge just outside the tree line but on the second glance they were gone. But surely your mind was playing tricks on you afterall it was too late for the children to be out and that too in the middle of nowhere. However, what was that fear that gripped you as soon as you saw them? What was so very wrong about this supposed hallucination that gave you chills and why are you not able to erase this memory out of your mind? Suddenly there is a knock at your door, your heart drops as soon as you break out of trance and take in your surroundings. It has suddenly gotten real cold. “Who is knocking at my door at this hour? Did i imagine this knock as well?” Everything seems eerily quiet now. You don’t like this kind of silence. There is a second knock and the same fear that you have been trying to question since a long time grips you once again. You walk slowly towards the door and open it. Outside there are two children. Your mind starts to go numb. You are too afraid to speak or to even move a muscle. But why? Why do these children scare you so much? Is your mind warning you about some incoming threat? Something about this whole situation feels really strange but you cant point out what it is. “Can we use your phone?” one of the boy says. You open your mouth to say something but the other kid interrupts you. “Can we come inside? we are really cold and scared”. They become really persistent and as soon as they step under the porch light, you see their eyes, their pitch black eyes . You lock the door, run inside your room and cover yourself under the blankets but you cant sleep and you never will be able to sleep properly because everytime you close your eyes, their pale faces flash in your mind.
The sightings of these black eyed kids have become more common after 2012 and people believe these kids to be manifestation of evil. If you ever encounter them, never let them enter your house.
