Nee soon rubber estate was established in the early 19th century in the town of Yishun. Lim Nee Soon, a businessman started the rubber estate before expanding his rubber plantations in the towns of Sembawang and seletar as well. The plantation was so important not only for lim nee soon but also for the other residents of the town. Infact the businessman became so much of an influential figure that the town Yishun is named after him.
The rubber plantation was spread over a massive area with rows and rows of rubber trees that can be seen for several kilometres. According to Malaysian and Indonesian folklore, pontianaks likes to reside on rubber trees. Pontianaks are vengeful female spirits who are said to have died during child birth. They have long hair, long sharp nails and are dressed in white. They lure unsuspecting men, rip through their internal organs and feed on them.
Fast forward to several decades later. The plantation is now gone and new buildings and roads have been built instead. The area is now a residential place. However, pontianaks do not easily move on from a particular location and with the rubber trees now gone, these spirits have now found a way inside the homes of the residents. Residents have claimed to witness the pontianaks on or from their balconies and even heard their names being called when they are alone. People also hear whispers in the darkness. Even people passing by from that area have heard their names being called. It is said that if you hear your name from far away, it means that the pontianak is nearby and if you are your name being called loudly that means that the pontianak is far away.
I’ve posted this story so it might seem familiar: Something reminiscent of slender man. Obviously slenderman is a creepy pasta but this isn’t slender man. There’s a farm behind my house, separated by a canal. The farm stretches maybe about 1000 feet back before it hits a tree line. A couple weeks ago, I was eating dinner and was staring out at the farm. It was maybe 20 minutes until nightfall. I saw what looked like a really tall, gray version of Gumby walk out of the tree line, take two really large lunges, then disappear back into the tree line. It was much too tall to be a person. The next night, at the same time, the same exact thing happened except my parents were with me. I asked them if they saw that and they just said “saw what?”. Then it happened AGAIN the third night. So either my body its giving me random hallucinations in sync with my bodies time clock or there’s some weird Slendergumby demon living on the farm behind my house. I haven’t been home much recently so haven’t been able to look for it again but if I’m able to, I’m gonna try and take a picture. I don’t know how well that will work given the distance that I see it, but I can try.
I was on a cub scout campout somewhere in the woods by Knob Noster, Missouri. My friends were back at camp and was in the woods by the campsite, there was this fallen tree that was angled and we spent most of this campout trying to climb it, so I was halfway up the tree when looked to my right and a large hairy Orangutang looking creature was looking at me and grinning. I was 7 years old, not on drugs, and I saw an honest to god Sasquatch.
I was in my brother’s room a few years ago when something strange happened with a balloon.
My brother had a red balloon in his room (don’t know where he got it from) and I was just hanging out in there with my mom. My brother was on his bed, my mom was sitting in a chair, and I was standing near the door. Now this red balloon was about 4 feet away from me, pushed up against the ceiling. I was looking in the balloon’s direction and all of a sudden it just falls halfway to the ground and shoots back up again. Everyone in the room saw it and I FREAKED out and sprinted back into my room terrified. My brother was going crazy while I was freaked the hell once and my mom was trying to calm us back. No one was in arm’s reach for the balloon or its string and it suddenly fell down and shot back up again.
I was around 12 when this happened to me. During the time my brother and I shared a room and had bunk beds. He had the top bed while had the bottom. The room was quite long but really skinny, almost a L shape if you will.
Anyways, I remembered waking up late one night. At the time I could not figure out what I was feeling, but now I could describe it as dread and extreme anxiety. I stood up out of bed and checked to see my brother sleeping. As I turned towards the doorway, noticed it was open. This was odd because we always slept with the door closed to keep the cat out.
As walked towards the door to shut it, I could see a shadow in the doorway that was illuminated by the hallway nightlight my dad has set up for us. I peeked around the corner and that was when I saw…whatever it was I saw.
In the door way was a massive figure. If had to guess, probably around 6’6-6’7. Extremely lanky the only detail I could make out was it’s long skinny arms and it’s eyes, which were red. I remember staring at it for a couple seconds before it entered the room, having to bend at the waist just to get underneath the door frame. The last thing I remember was it rapidly approaching the bunk bed then it goes blank. I woke up on the floor early the next morning. I told my dad about it the next day but of course he chalked it up to a bad dream and realistically he was probably right. It is just difficult to get over the fact that to this day still remember whatever was in the doorway and the exact feeling I had from start to finish. The final thing about the encounter that convinced me something happened that night was my brother. About 2 days later he pulled off his shirt and he had what looked like 3 insect bite marks on his upper right back, forming a triangle. They went away relatively fast but to this day he has a mole in the direct centre of where the “bites” where

My Mum’s Aboriginal, and as a kid, whenever we moved to a new place she’d always get to know all the blackfellas in town.
We made friends with a family who had an old Uncle (not gonna mention his real name on here, so we’ll just call him Jack). Uncle Jack used to spend a lot of time in the bush and he was fluent in the Noongar language.
He told us lots of yarns about little hairy humanoids called “woodarchies”. They’re well known among Noongar people and are mischievous and can torment you if you piss them off.
He told us one story that gave me chills as a kid. He was camping in his swag and his fire had died right down. He woke and there were four woodarchies surrounding him. Standing at his head, feet and either side like “points of a compass”.
He was too scared to move, so stayed stock still, trying not to look at them. At some point he drifted off to sleep and when he woke they were gone. They left a handful of rocks on his swag though.

I am going to write this on behalf of my mother, who passed away a year ago and saw and heard many things that the average person wouldn’t believe. To start, I live on a farm in a house that was built in the early 1900s. To date, four people have passed away in the house or near the house. My great great grandma died in a rocking chair. My great great grandpa was riding in a wagon down our driveway when his team of horses got spooked and he flew off and broke his neck. A hired man’s wife fell down our stairs while she was pregnant and hemorrhaged and died, and my aunt died in my old bedroom at age 2. Over the years, my mother and brother have experienced many different spooky things on our property. In the early 1980s, they both heard footsteps walking up and down our upstairs hallway in the middle of the night. My brother was alone once and he was outside doing farm choirs in the dark. He was maybe 500 feet from our house. He had the urge to look over and every single light in the house was on. My mom has heard people whispering her name, she’s heard creaking noises in the house, and sounds as if something had fallen (big crashes, etc.). My father has been oblivious to everything and has never heard any of it. In 2004, my mom went outside to fill our woodstove at about 10 p.m. On her way back to the house, she got the feeling that she was being watched. As she turned to look to her right, she saw this very skinny, gray being standing below our house staring over its shoulder at her. She got this intense feeling that it wanted her to see it. After a few seconds, it bolted away from the house. She was so freaked out that she sprinted into our house, locked the doors and collapsed on the floor in hysterics. For years, she’d never tell anyone the story. This was a particularly interesting experience, as in the late 1960s our neighbor just over the hill had gray aliens walk into his barn and actually talk to him. It was investigated by some big shot UFO investigator out of Chicago too. I personally had never heard or seen anything in our house until recently. Over the years, friends have came over and saw shadow people in our house, or hear the pitter patter of small dog feet on the floor upstairs. As said earlier, my mother passed away a year ago and we have her urn sitting on a table downstairs, just below my bedroom. For about three months, every night was in the home alone (my dad is a trucker so he’s gone for a week at a time with a five day break in between) would hear this pounding noise every 30 seconds coming from somewhere in the walls as tried to fall asleep. I’ve heard crashing noises and my dog has perked his ears up because of them. A lot of people are too freaked out to stay overnight at my house without my Dad being there, and I’m starting to get that way too.
When I was in college, I lived in a dorm for Native students. It was the first multicultural house in the Greek Village, and we were so proud. About 9 of us lived there. The college was built on our tribe’s old wintering grounds, and the school had disposed of things in a pretty shady way back in the 70s and 80s. Anyway, over the first few months we lived there, several of us noticed strange things. We weren’t comfortable by ourselves. We’d see black people shapes out of the corners of our eyes. Somebody even swore they had a conversation with me, when wasn’t in the house. They said the “me” was a bit off and vacant and strange, but they couldn’t figure out why. This happened with a few of us. Things were being broken and misplaced. We would hear strange wind noises sometimes. We finally went to someone in our tribe who dealt with things like this. He came and cleared the house with tobacco and water. We prayed, and cleansed ourselves. Two of us stayed in the house while he worked. I distinctly remember him walking through the darkened living room, opening the door, and hearing what sounded like a tornado whizz through the room very quickly. Then it was over. Turns out it wasn’t malevolent or anything. Just something that had attached itself to the land. We never had any problems after the cleansing.
Went on a high school trip to Civil War sites. Went walking around Gettysburg in the middle of the night. Saw 3 shadowy looking dudes with muskets go running by.
I was a baby when this incident happened, but believe my sister, who was around 5 years old at the time.My cousins, aunts, and uncles were at a birthday party one Saturday at my grandmother’s house in Houston. All the adults were inside the house around dusk but the older cousins (ages ranging from 4 to 8) and my sister were outside, playing. My sister isn’t sure who noticed the bird in the tree first, but soon all of the cousins noticed it as well. A bird was perched on one of the lower branches just staring at them. Before their horified eyes, the bird began transforming until it was a woman. A woman sitting on the branch leering at them. As they began shouting and screaming for their parents, the woman became a bird again. By this time, the parents had come out to investigate the commotion but the bird wouldn’t budge. Not until my grandmother, a formidable and salt of the earth type of woman, went outside, did the bird fly off. The house is creepy. It’s still in the family and I’ve had some other strange experiences as did my mother (it was in the family since my parents were young teens). My cousin owns it now and it’s still creepy and old and he doesn’t really like living in the little yellow house either. In the beautiful roses my grandmother planted, strange things have been found. Animal bones, guts, melted candles, and other witchcraft type of things. A lady in white has been seen moving from room room in the past by house guests.
White lick creek is a stream located in Indiana. Near the stream just south of highway 36, there is a railroad bridge known as the white lick creek bridge aka ” The Avon bridge”.
The bridge was constructed in 1906. The bridge is a historical landmark in Hendricks county and it is shrouded in mystery. A lot of people visit the bridge to know more about its past and whether the legends regarding the bridge are true or not.
According to the legends, when the bridge was in construction an Irishman by the name of Dad Jones was given the task of pouring cement into the wooden blocks. While doing his work he slipped and fell into the wet cement and quickly started to sink inside. He screamed and screamed but to no avail. His colleagues could only watch him sink in horror and there was nothing they could do to rescue him. He kept on pounding on the sides of the framework until he choked to death. The construction company building the bridge decided that it would be too expensive to remove the cement block that was now completely dry and they let the body buried in it and completed the construction instead. It is said that after the construction people would still hear the screams and pounding of the dead worker from the bridge. The ghost of the dead worker was also often seen flagging the trains.
Another legend is that of a woman carrying an infant in her arms on the bridge. She accidentally fell from the bridge and died. It is said that people passing from under the bridge can still hear her mourn and cry as she desperately searches for her missing baby. It is rumored that if you hear her cries you have to honk your car horn while driving under the bridge, which supposedly catches her off-guard and she stops screaming.
The original bridge was eventually torn down and a new bridge was built near it. Thrill seekers and paranormal investigators still visit the remains of the bridge in the hopes of catching a glimpse of the paranormal. Locals claim that they can still hear the screams from a particular section of the bridge.
The village of Borgvattnet located in north-eastern Jämtland has about 50 residents. However the lonely vicarage in the forest is said to be the most haunted place in Sweden.
It was built in 1876 and the vicar moved into the vicarage. But the hauntings became known in 1927 when the new vicar started experiencing some terrible haunting activity. Everything started when he went down in the laundry. His laundry started getting torn in front of him by some unseen force. He could not believe what he had just witnessed. The paranormal activity intensified further on and things went from sounds to screams to full shadows. Afterwards each and every resident that ever resided in the vicarage experienced some sort of paranormal activity.
The next priest that moved in the house saw a grey lady roaming inside the house. When he went to confront her, she vanished into thin air. Another priest would hear noises and footsteps as well as the sound of music coming from other rooms. A woman who was a visitor at the house and was staying at the guestroom woke up feeling uncomfortable. She was on edge and felt like she was being watched. When she got up she saw three elderly women sitting on the sofa looking at her. She turned on the light but the women didn’t disappear rather they looked completely transparent and she could see right through them.
Another resident who had just moved into the house and was resting on the rocking chair was pushed from the chair. This is the same chair that many claimed would start rocking backward and forward on its own.
It is believed that the vicarage is haunted by all those vicars who previously stayed at the house. Another belief is that a maid who killed and buried her child in the backyard haunts the house. However all of these beliefs are just assumptions and the real story as to why the intense paranormal activity occurs at the place is still unknown. The place now acts as a bread and breakfast and those who wish to stay and experience the paranormal activity on their own can stay there. Those who have been brave enough to stay there have seen or heard things that have made them question reality and increased their belief in the paranormal. People have seen shadow figures, screams and the old rocking chair that still keeps on rocking to this day. Those who can stay the night there are awarded the diploma in honor of bravery.
Hotel del Salto is located near Tequendama Falls in Bogotá, Colombia. The city was ruled by Muisca people. When the Spanish landed in south America, they started murdering and enslaving the Muisca people. To escape this date people started jumping off the edge of Tequendama Falls. Hundreds of people committed suicide during that time. Normally people try to avoid a place with such a haunting past.
In 1923, architect Carlos Arturo Tapias built his home near the falls. The mansion was so big and spacious yet he was alone with nobody to share the space. Eventually the horrors of the place started getting to him and he realised that it would be better to invite paid guests inside the house. Many influential people and celebrities started frequenting the mansion and many big parties were hosted on a regular basis. After sometime the mansion was converted into a hotel and the parties kept on going. In 1928, due to the great depression businesses fell and many people were moved to bankruptcy. The tourism industry affected the most as people would not go on any sort of vacation.
History repeated itself and locals started to jump off the falls during the period where they had no money and were forced into starvation. The number of guests at the hotel started to fall and those who still came to the hotel had to assist in investigations because people committed suicide near the hotel. The period was the start of the descent of the hotel and it didn’t reach its initial success again but many people still frequented the hotel. In 1990 the hotel closed down because of the decay caused by the moisture. In 2013 the government started renovations at the hotel to reopen it as a museum. People still visit the museum to know more about the history.
The hotel and the area surrounding it has a brutal history and due to a lot of deaths in the area, the atmosphere around the place always looks grim. When the hotel was abandoned, many homeless people squatted there, and there were accounts of people being scared by shadows that they could see from the corner of their eyes. Many people were also found dead inside the hotel during that time. It is said that the homeless people were lured there by paranormal forces and died inside the hotel. The abandoned hotel attracted a lot of paranormal investigators and these investigators captured a lot of evidence. At that time the hotel was completely taken over by nature from inside out with vines and moss covering the hotel beds and furniture. It is also believed that the site was cursed by Muisca people because their land was forcibly taken and they were slaughtered and driven to suicide. Even when the hotel was in operation, the guests would have a hard time sleeping as they would often see apparitions and hear whispers even when nobody was around. Sometimes people would even hear screaming from inside the hotel making them visibly shaken. The hotel has now been converted into a museum and a cultural site. Tours of the hotel are also provided to the curious visitors.
Formerly known as “Goh Chan Lau” aka five storey bungalow is an abandoned school in Penang, Malaysia. It was built in the 1880s by the son of a merchant as a five storey residence and was one of the grandest mansions during that time. During its history the ownership has been passed down to numerous different people who either used it as a residence, converted it into a hotel or into a school.
Before world war two it was used as a hotel and later in 1912 the fifth floor was converted into a girls school. After 1920 the building was leased to the government English school. Shih Chung branch school was moved in in 1938. The building was used as a school for quite some time but when World War 2 reached its heights and Malaysia was occupied by the Japanese military, they started using the building as their administrative headquarters. There are stories of the building being used for many bad practises during the Japanese occupation. It is said that people were imprisoned and tortured. The basement was used to keep the prisoners locked in for interrogation and we’re tortured there.
The building was returned to the school after the war and till 1994 it was used as the school. However, the building had witnessed too many horrors and some of them remained for others to witness as well. The place is reportedly haunted by the people who died there during the war as well as the ghost of japanese soldiers are also said to haunt the building.
People who pass by the building have felt a sense of uneasiness. Some people even feel terrified just by looking at the building. People have heard screams of agony and even the marching of soldiers from the building. The building now stands in a dilapidated state and entry is restricted. The building is completely boarded off but some people brave enough have still managed to enter the building in order to explore the mansion. The building has been completely overtaken by nature from the inside and is in a dangerous state of decay.
Local myth? There is a small, small, small playground next to a weird overpass in our city. Like, two swings and a slide. It’s so hard to get to, I don’t even know why the city put it there. It’s not lit for night use except by a single street lamp. If you use the overpass at night, it looks so eerie and sometimes the wind makes the swings move slowly. In high school, everyone would say a little girl died there and if you don’t hold your breath when going over the overpass, she’ll claim your soul.
A decommissioned offshore lighthouse. Even though the tower is locked and all utilities have long been disconnected, residents viewing it from the shore have witnessed the beacon lighting up randomly late at night, 2-3 times per year.
The structure remains solidly locked, and no boats have been reported in the area when the sporadic illumination occurs.

Ever heard of a shin sales or a sheid.. A Jewish demon that can take different forms and drives people insane if your lucky enough to get away from it alive… The only way to combat it is by holding on to your thumb facing it and saying you and are one, then the shaid will say you and are two, then you must respond you and are three and repeat this until 101, all the while it drives you mad…
There is apparently something called a hoopsnake that lives by the river. It bites onto it’s tail and chases after you rolling like a hula hoop and I find that quite fucked up.

I live in upstate new York in the Adirondacks. And up here theirs always a sense of mystery in the air especially if you go to the more rural parts there’s bigfoot sightings strange happenings. Like for instance the tourism guide will tell you that cougars are extinct here however there have been many sightings of them my dad had personally saw a big cat dash across the road while on his way home from work. Along with the strange disappearance of one ted Nugent who was a pro hunter and ex army that just disappeared into thin air on a hunting trip. If you ever heard of missing 411 incidents this was one of them. It was said that when ted went missing the forest was dead silent (normally in the woods you hear something birds mice etc) anyway a few weeks ago I went out hunting solo I was sitting against a tree on top of a hill when suddenly the forest went dead quiet had a strong sense of being watched at first I played it off saying OH you’re just paranoid but as the sun went down the feeling got stronger and stronger until I said OK I’m just gonna cut this trip short. Was I paranoid was it paranormal I DONT KNOW
The abandoned house is located in Škrinjari village in Croatia. Now known around the world as Škrinjari house. Built by a family somewhere in between 1950-1980, the real date is not exactly known but it is believed by many that the house was completed in 1980. From the outside, the house looks like a normal house without any extravagant features just like hundreds of houses in Croatia, but the house offers beautiful scenery surrounding it.
The owner is said to have built the house on the foundations of an old house that was abandoned for years with the idea of moving back to his homeland with his family. Tragedy struck and the owner was not able to move in the house and since then many people have moved in the house. Nobody managed to live in the house for more than a few months or at most a couple of years before moving out of the house again. Since 1997 the house has been abandoned waiting for a new owner but to no avail as nobody wants to move in the house believing it to be haunted. People who have lived there have experienced terrible things. Now the house is famous all over as a haunted house.
Many people believe that the site used to be a graveyard and the place is cursed. Legend has it that a young kid drowned in the well inside the property and the body was never recovered. Wailing sounds can still be heard from inside the well. Another story is of a woman who was murdered inside the property. Her body was buried somewhere inside the house. Now her spirit roams inside the property forever trapped and unable to leave. People who have visited the house have experienced a sense of fear and uneasiness. A terrible smell can be smelled inside the house with the source being unknown.
Over the years many people have tried to stay the night but some have to leave the house before even settling for the night while others who have stayed have been badly scared. Several policemen decided to stay at the house to end all the rumours surrounding the house but one iof them quit before even going inside the house while others managed to stay overnight but had no memory of about two hours before sunrise and they had to undergo a psychiatric treatment. Many investigators have also tried to investigate the property but most of the time their equipment would start to malfunction. People have still managed to collect much evidence of the paranormal in the house. A person managed to capture the silhouette of a woman in his camera. Passersby have also witnessed a woman standing outside the house with her arms folded and when they tried to look at her face they could only see a shadowy face with gaping black holes where the eyes should be. The house has no electricity but people claim to see a burning lamp inside the house sometimes during the night. People can still hear disembodied voices and see mysterious shadows inside the house.
A lot of people claim that the owner will give the house to anyone brave enough to stay overnight at the house. However I can’t stay whether this is true or not.
Yawata no yabushirazu is a small patch of forest located Ichikawa city of the Chiba prefecture. While the place itself might seem harmless at first glance, it would surely get your attention as the forest seems out of place between the tall buildings.
The forest is famous all over the country as a forbidden forest. People are forbidden to even set foot inside the forest and it has been fenced by a stone wall to prevent people from entering inside the forest. While Aokigahara takes all the limelight of being the most haunted forest in Japan, people who know stories about this forest regard this as an equally haunted place. The name is described as a maze-like thicket without any end or exit. This however does not mean that the forest is so large that you can get lost, the forest is literally a small patch and it is impossible to get lost inside the forest but it is believed that whoever sets foot inside the forest their soul gets spirited away and they can never return from there as it is a sacred place and those who dare enter the forest will face the divine wrath.
This theory can’t be put to the test now as nobody is allowed to enter the forest or maybe we don’t even know people might have entered the forest but they didn’t survive to tell the tale. This legend has been passed down since the Edo period and people still firmly believe in this. People often dare themselves to go inside the forest but there isn’t a single report of anyone going inside the forest and coming out alive.
Some people blame this supernatural activity on a fox spirit-deity, while some claim that the forest is haunted by the vengeful ghost of some ancient samurai lord who was killed at this place. Some people even believe that there is a poisonous gas inside the forest responsible for this.
Although you cannot enter the forest, a shrine has been dedicated to the gates of the forest and one can stop to pray on the gates. Japan is a curious country with many legends and this perfect blend of the present without damaging anything from its past is what makes japan one of the best countries.
I grew up pretty close to this small town whose name means “fragrant water” in my local language. How did that come to be, you say? Well well well I’m glad you asked.
Apparently long long ago there’s a king who’s suspicious of his wife. He’s all like gurl you’re cheating, you gotta be! And the queen was like nooooo I’m not! I swear! But the king was not convinced, and kept accusing her. Eventually he decided that the queen is to be sentenced to death. Exasperated, the queen said: “fine, kill me. But then throw my body into this water right here and if I’m innocent the water will become fragrant,”.
The king was like LOL yea right, go die now. /stab
Well, she died. But they humored her and threw her body into the, uh… river or lake or whatever. It’s a body of water. Anyway, lo and behold, a strong flower fragrant starts wafting in the air, just as the queen said it would if she was innocent. The king fell to his knees, probably waving his fists to the clouds yelling a dramatic No0o0oo0000!!!
And then they named the town Fragrant Water. After this legend of a lady who died of shittyhusbanditis, an extremely common disease back in the day. I’ll let yall decide what message / lesson they’re trying to convey by naming their town after this legend. Think before you stab your wives, I guess?
While growing up on the East Coast of the US I would say that the Jersey Devil was the strangest one that I heard, with Chessie the Chesapeake Bay monster being the most wholesome (mostly because of all the children’s books about Chessie).
The little town I lived in has a child’s grave in the older part of the cemetery. It is the only grave in the entire town that has a spiked fence and stones on top of where the body would be. It sticks out when you walk through the cemetery. Further, there is about 6-10 feet where there are no other graves, not the parents, no other kids or relatives. Local teens started circulating a myth that the child was born to a witch who was subsequently murdered after birthing the child. The myth goes that when the child died, they put spikes and stones on the grave to stop the child from rising and killing the towns people as the child would have been a witch as well. This myth circulated so widely that the cemetery put up a little board on the grave saying that the extras on the grave were to prevent animals from digging up the body. It didn’t make as much sense to the town teens as it’s was the only grave in town with those safety measures. People, mostly teens, still to this day go give gifts to the lonely child, lovingly refered to as the Witch Baby, from coins to stuffed animals and flowers.
In 1967, the then Prime Minister of Australia, Harold Holt, swam out to sea and was swept away. It was said that he was caught in a ‘rip’, and dragged out by the current. One of the biggest search operations took place in order to locate him, but was unsuccessful.
His body has never been found, and this has generated a whole bunch of theories. But yeah, pretty weird.
